Effective school planning depends on a consistent analysis and comparison of the threats and hazards a particular school faces. The process of conducting a school site safety security assessment creates opportunities to reduce or eliminate potential hazards and develop recommendations for improvement.

The Site Safety Security Assessment training provides awareness resources and preparedness training to enhance organizational capacity to conduct multidisciplinary site assessments. This training develops an options-based, multi-hazard, multi-disciplinary approach for addressing the safety, accessibility, and emergency preparedness of the school's buildings and grounds, as well as the surrounding community.

Objectives:
- Identify and understand best practices
- Understand and apply site safety assessment concepts
- Understand, identify, and evaluate physical security
- Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary team approach
- Identify online site safety assessment assets and resources
- Understand what a site safety security assessment team produces and disseminates
- Apply and execute a holistic approach to all hazard threat identification
- Gain knowledge through field experience(s)

The training features classroom instruction, an exterior walkthrough, and a building interior walkthrough, allowing attendees to practice the skills that were covered in the course material while providing the opportunity for discussion during a practice site assessment.
