Safer Schools Together developed this full-day Digital Threat Assessment (DTA) training workshop to keep pace with the evolving technology challenges that affect school and public safety today.

Through instructor-led activities using real-life case examples, participants will gain increased knowledge and ability in the realm of digital threat assessment, allowing them to effectively utilize several social media platforms and tools when performing Behavioral Threat Assessments/Interventions. Since the vast majority of recent school violence attacks have had precursors leaked online in the form of social media posts, and since successful student threat assessments cannot be determined without looking at the social media & online activity of the threat maker, it is imperative to understand the tools and methods available to identify and manage online threat-related behavior.

Knowing where, how, and when to look for this critical information will be thoroughly addressed. This training covers the challenges that frontline investigators and school staff are currently facing, including:

- Anonymous online threats
- Fake accounts
- Sexting and sextortion
- Geolocational utilities and their dangers
- Image verification of firearms
- Suicidal imagery
