The Four Pivots Book Study will be a combination of in-person meeting (Session 1), four virtual sessions, and required response submissions utilizing the Padlet Platform.
Dr. Shawn Ginwright is an African American social scientist, leader, and movement builder. Through The Four Pivots, Ginwright challenges the reader to tackle a fundamental shift in our values–a pivot in how we think, act, work, as well as connect. By breaking down the deeply ingrained four myths of social movements, he shifts, proposing instead four pivots for more impactful activism and stronger, healing-centered leadership. "Reading this courageous book feels like the beginning of a social and personal awakening….I can't stop thinking about it." – Brene' Brown, PhD, author of Dare to Lead
In this extended book study, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Explore the significance of both "lens" and "mirror" work.
- Move relationships at all levels of our lives from transactional to transformational.
- Shift from "problem fixing" to "possibility creating."
- Move from hustle to flow; a challenge to shift from a "frenzied right now" to calmer management of the complexity of our daily lives-society.
Note: You must provide your own copy of the book.
