Is It Teacher Burnout or the Effects of Vicarious Trauma?

Administrators, educators, counselors and other school staff who work with students who have endured adverse childhood experiences are at risk of being indirectly traumatized because of hearing about their students; experiences and witnessing the negative effects. In this training, participants will review the ground-breaking ACE study and learn about secondary (vicarious) trauma and related conditions. Risk factors and symptoms of secondary traumatic stress will be identified and why those who work in education are so at risk. Participants will also explore the differences between secondary traumatic stress and burnout and learn how to develop vicarious resilience through in school support and self-care
